The Housing Finance Agency (HFA) wishes to alert the public to scam messages and online posts that are currently circulating.

The Housing Finance Agency and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage have been made aware of a number of online scams currently circulating impersonating housing initiatives such as “Housing for All” and “Ireland’s Housing Plan” and falsely suggesting that accommodation is being offered to members of the public in connection with the HFA.

We urge people to exercise extreme caution. These scams often appear to come from official sources. Please ensure that you are using trusted, official websites and do not click on or respond to suspicious links or messages.

The HFA does not engage directly with the public regarding accommodation, housing offers or home purchases. We never seek personal information, account details or payments from members of the public.

We would advise any member of the public who is contacted by anyone claiming to represent the HFA, or any Government body, and seeking details or payment regarding homes for sale or housing, to report the matter immediately to An Garda Síochána.

If any member of the public has engaged with such an entity online and has exchanged information, they should alert their bank or any other relevant organisation without delay to advise that their data may be compromised.

The HFA is in contact with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and is reporting this matter to the appropriate authorities.
