The Housing Finance Agency awards funding for community initiatives through its Social Investment Fund.
The Housing Finance Agency (HFA) has announced €500,000 in funding for 19 community-focused initiatives across 10 counties.

- Indoor communal spaces for elderly residents

"We’re delighted to announce an expanded Social Investment Fund of €500,000, supporting 19 community projects across 10 counties. This marks a significant increase from last year, when 12 initiatives received funding, totalling €250,000. The growth of the fund reflects our commitment to helping build vibrant, inclusive communities alongside the delivery of social and affordable housing.
The Social Investment Fund is designed to complement housing developments by providing facilities and initiatives that enrich residents quality of life. We’re proud to back initiatives that promote wellbeing, encourage community engagement and support social inclusion—particularly for residents in specialist housing and underrepresented groups.
We also want to champion innovation and sustainability. By funding creative, forward-thinking projects, the HFA is helping communities to meet not only today’s needs but also to plan for a more sustainable future".
Elaine Bruton, Tenant Services & Engagement Manager North & East Housing Association, said:
“We are delighted to have been awarded funding from the Housing Finance Agency (HFA) to support our Connect and Thrive digital inclusion programme. We are grateful to the HFA for recognising the value of this initiative and for their commitment to supporting tenant wellbeing.
This important investment will go directly toward the design, delivery, and development of a programme that empowers tenants through digital access and skills. Connect and Thrive will include ‘How To’ digital training for tenants, access to upgraded equipment, and a ‘Train the Trainers’ initiative to ensure long-term sustainability.
We are confident that this investment will deliver meaningful and lasting benefits for tenants. It also has the potential to evolve into a peer-led, shareable model that can be adopted by other Approved Housing Bodies across Ireland.”
Seán Moynihan, CEO of Alone, said:
“We are grateful for the grant award and the benefits it will give to the residents, family and friends of Willie Bermingham Place. Our focus has always been beyond providing just a roof as we provide supports to live at home and community engagement for all who want it. Our future model of Housing with Support will have this built in to every development.”
